Request to Exempt Small Carriers from ELD Mandate Denied
The , which requires that every commercial truck operating on US highways and roads must have an electronic logging device record hours of service, has now been in effect for over 200 days. Last week, a petition to the US Department of Transportation asking for a reprieve from ELD compliance rules for small carriers with a history of clean safety records This decision comes 8 months after the original request was filed, asking the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to allow businesses with less than $27.5 million in annual revenue to continue using paper logs if they did not have an Unsatisfactory safety rating and had no at-fault crashes. Since the ELD Mandate went into full effect, have resulted in compliance violations.
